POST PARTY BLUES – SKIN CARE

The party season is on almost through the year for us Indians, we have the wedding season and of course Diwali – the biggest Indian festival.

Diwali is the perfect party season, non stop party time where you chat with friends and play cards; endless rounds of food feasts and drinks. However, the next morning is a very different story, you wake up and see your face in the mirror and it shows blotchy skin, puffy eyes with dark circles and limp hair.

Skin is one organ that is the first to show the tell tale signs of lack of sleep, fatigue and bad eating and drinking habits at parties. Do not panic, but follow the simple steps and glow with the flawless skin.

  • Once you get back home from the party, however tired you may be, follow the simple cleansing routine to remove all makeup and apply a light moisturiser before you sleep.
  • Drink plenty of water as alcohol causes dehydration, which leads to dull and dry skin. If you are having alcohol, before you take your next drink, take a glass of water. This also help you not get a hangover.
  • When you wake up, the first thing you should do is drink plenty of water, about 4-5 glasses to refresh the dehydrated skin.
  • Splash your face with ice cold water, you can use a cold water sponge on eyes to get rid of puffiness.
  • Another way to get rid of puffiness is to gently press the mid brow area with the finger tips and gently massage the area in front and behind the ears.
  • A good face wash is a must, you may also use a gentle scrub (but not if you have sensitive skin, pimples or blemishes Treatment). Follow it up with a moisturiser and a sunscreen.
  • When outdoors, do apply a suitable sunscreen and calamine lotion for extra protection.
  • Do not neglect the crowning glory, your hair; a gentle pure oil massage at least twice a week to rejuvenate the hair.
  • Eat a healthy nutritious diet rich in antioxidants, eat seasonal fruits and salads. Drink plenty of water.
  • Do not forget to exercise, do not give your fitness program a miss because of a late night party. Exercise is the best cream for a glowing complexion.
